St Paul’s Church Hall

St Paul’s Church Hall is provided as a community facility, and is available for hire for children’s parties, weddings, christenings, coffee mornings and community events, also by groups, classes, clubs and societies.

The hall can accommodate up to 100 people seated around tables and can include the hire of a large, fully equipped kitchen. The main hall is equipped with tables and chairs.You should find all the information on this page but we recommend that you contact the Parish Office for further information and availability.

Contact the Parish Office by email at or call 01432 274490 to book the hall. You will receive confirmation of your booking and the costs. Please note that your booking will only be provisional until a deposit has been paid. We recommend you plan your event well in advance as the hall is a popular venue and we cannot guarantee availability.

Hall facilities
The main hall is large and can accommodate up to 100 people seated around tables comfortably. Tables and chairs are also available. The kitchen has a large serving hatch to the hall and is well equipped with large cooker, microwave, kettles and a hot water unit. There are two large sinks and a large central island worktop where food can be prepared. Crockery and cutlery is available but depending on your event it may be wise to provide these. If you are using a caterer they may well also provide cutlery and crockery appropriate to your event.

There are toilets with disabled access.

There is a small amount of parking available but this cannot be guaranteed. There are disabled parking areas in front of the hall. There is generally parking space in the nearby streets but we ask you not to park on the pavements or to block driveways to houses. We ask you to keep guest cars to a minimum to avoid disturbance for other church users.

When do I pay the hire fee?
The full amount due is payable in total and this and the booking form must be handed in to the Benefice (Parish) Office with a deposit of £25 (in the form of a post dated cheque) to cover or partially cover any damage caused, before the Community Centre can be booked.

Can I use any outdoor space?
The grassed area to the rear of the hall may be used except when there has been snow or heavy rain or when the grass has been treated or reseeded. We ask you to exercise sensitivity to church users and to our neighbours.

NOTE – The play equipment is the property of the Nursery School and the After School Club and should be used with care and by the age group for which it is designed. Please ensure that there is adequate supervision of all children in the garden play area throughout the period of hire.

Can I have a disco?
We do not have any equipment for this purpose but you may bring your own. However, the halls are in a residential area and we are bound by law as well as consideration for our neighbours to keep noise at a reasonable level.

Can I put up decorations?
Nothing may be stuck to the walls. Helium balloons tied to chair backs or with suitable weights make attractive decorations.

Do you provide a caterer?
No, we do not provide a caterer but if you wish to you can use one of your choice. Any subsequent agreement to hire a caterer is solely between the hall hirer and the caterer. The onus is on the hirers to see that any caterer employed by them complies with our conditions of hire.

After your event
Hirers are responsible for leaving the hall in a clean, tidy condition, taking all rubbish home immediately after the event has ended. Mop, bucket, broom are provided and some cleaning materials but it may be advisable to supplement these with your own and to bring tea towels and bin bags. Because all balloons must be removed we recommend a long string also be attached in case they rise to the ceiling.

The hall and areas you have hired will be inspected and in the event of any damage or if the hall is left in an unclean state you may lose your deposit.

Access to the building: We will arrange for a volunteer or our caretaker to open up the community centre at the time your booking is due to commence. You should vacate the premises at the time your booking ends. You should allow sufficient to set up and tidy up within your booking time slot. This is very important in order for us to ensure we have time to set up for the next booking.
